One for the Ages: Mets Beat White Sox on 16th Inning Walk-Off
|
When the games really matter, the New York Mets put on their best show, beating the Chicago White Sox by a final score of 4-3 today. Lance Lynn threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. New York now leads Chicago 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.
In the bottom of the 16th, Jonathan Villar had a chance to deal the knockout blow. And he did, punching a run-scoring single to right-center off Chicago pitcher Codi Heuer.
"We did enough to win," said Villar.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Citi Field in New York.
